New Location, Same Daily Tabata

A look back at Xtreme Athlete’s 2018 move to Browns Plains and the daily small-group Tabata sessions that carried the community into its next chapter.

2 minute read

In July 2018, Xtreme Athlete began a new chapter in a new training space while keeping one of the community’s most familiar fixtures: coached small-group Tabata sessions every weekday. The address changed, but the commitment to structured, energetic and supportive training stayed the same.

A new home for the Xtreme Athlete community

From Monday 16 July 2018, members found Xtreme Athlete at 38/8 St Jude Court, Browns Plains. At the time, the move represented more than a different set of walls and equipment. It created a fresh base for the people who had built their routines, friendships and goals around the gym.

The daily 5:00-6:30 pm small-group training window continued through the transition. Keeping that familiar rhythm mattered. Moving locations can disrupt momentum, but maintaining a dependable session gave members something consistent to carry into the new environment.

Why Tabata-style training worked for the group

Tabata is widely associated with short periods of focused effort and planned recovery. In a coached small-group setting, that simple interval structure can be adapted to different exercises, experience levels and training goals. The clock creates urgency, while the coach makes sure effort does not come at the expense of sensible technique.

  • Clear work and recovery intervals make each session easy to follow.
  • Exercises can be scaled to suit the person rather than forcing everyone into one level.
  • Small groups add energy and accountability without losing coaching attention.
  • Compact sessions help make consistent training realistic during a busy week.

Same standards, different surroundings

The 2018 move is part of the broader Xtreme Athlete story: locations and formats can change, but good coaching remains grounded in consistency, progression and a genuine understanding of the person doing the work. The strongest training culture is not created by an address. It is created by the people who keep showing up and supporting one another.
