A massive shout-out to Lisa for being part of the Xtreme Athlete community for seven years. When Nikolai first met her, Lisa was what he affectionately called a “cardio queen”. He suggested adding weight training to her routine, beginning a long journey that would eventually include two national titles and more state and local achievements than we could sensibly list.
Seven years of showing up
Results photos and competition titles capture a moment, but they never show the full body of work behind it. Lisa’s progress was built over years: learning new skills, becoming comfortable with strength training and continuing to turn up through changing goals and different seasons of life.
That consistency is what makes a genuine fitness journey sustainable. A good program can provide direction, but the real transformation comes from repeating the fundamentals, building confidence and allowing training to evolve as the person does.
From cardio to strength and competition
Introducing resistance training gave Lisa a new way to challenge herself. Strength work was not simply an alternative to cardio; it became a foundation for improved capability, physique development and the confidence to pursue competitive goals.
Two national titles are an exceptional achievement. They also represent countless smaller wins that happened away from the stage: another well-executed session, a technical improvement, a difficult week navigated and the patience to keep building rather than chasing a shortcut.
What made Lisa part of the gym
Above all, we remember the energy Lisa brought with her. Her enthusiasm and joy mattered to the people training around her. That is the part of coaching that statistics cannot measure: one person’s commitment can lift the standard and spirit of an entire training environment.
- Consistency creates room for long-term progress.
- Strength training can change both physical capacity and self-belief.
- Goals can grow as skills and confidence grow.
- The way someone contributes to a community matters as much as a result.
A new chapter
We wish Lisa every success in her next chapter and thank her for seven memorable years with Xtreme Athlete. The titles and achievements will remain part of her story, but so will the laughs, encouragement and example she shared along the way.
And Lisa, wherever the next journey takes you, do not forget those birthday burpees each year.
